Serious about cycling
The Green Party is committed to active life and transport. We believe that roads need to be better engineered to accommodate both drivers and cyclists safely.
The Green Party is promotes rebalancing the transport budget to spend less money on road, and more money on walking and cycling infrastructure.
One less Road of National Significance would fund all of New Zealand's needs for safe cycling lanes in our towns and cities.
Greater investment is desperately needed in cycling infrastructure to encourage more cyclists. This would enable our economy to realise the huge benefits more cyclists would create: less congestion, less obesity, less expenditure on health budgets.
National Cycleway Project
The Government used our cycling expertise on the National Cycleway
project. Green MP and cycling spokesperson Kevin Hague is unusual
amongst politicians—he brings significant cycling expertise to
Parliament and the Cycleway is a whole lot smarter as a result of it.
