The Green Party believes all animals used by humans for production, recreation, research or entertainment have a fundamental right to live as normal and healthy life as possible. Sue Kedgley MP is at the forefront of protest against conditions in factory farms.

We want changes to the cruel factory farming methods used in New Zealand which prevent animals from expressing normal patterns of behaviour - as required by the Animal Welfare Act. We support phasing out sow crates; conventional battery hen cages; antibiotics as growth promotants in farm animals and GE to create new super animals.
