I want to be an MP to represent the positive vision my generation has for the future of Aotearoa. A vision based on diversity, sustainability and peace; of a nation based on Te Tiriti. I am a hard working activist dedicated to ensuring Green representation for generations to come.

Background

Rayna has an extensive background in community activism and organisation.
She is currently based in Melbourne with her partner and small child, where she owns a small business making and selling recycled and radical crafts. Rayna is heavily involved in the global arts, crafts and design community, writing, organising and advocating for radical and sustainable design solutions for global environmental and social issues. Her strong connections to many activist communities within Aotearoa, Australia and the rest of the world, focus mostly on environmental, economic and indigenous justice issues.

Achievements

Rayna has been a member of the Waikato University Students' Union and served on the Board of Directors for Nexus Publications Ltd, Campus Services Ltd and the Regional Committee for Student Job Search. In Melbourne during 2006 she was a co-host on the Renegade Economists show on 3CR Radio. Currently she is one of the organisers of the Melbourne Craft Cartel which is a conscious craft collective, market and podcast.
An active member of the Green Party for more than seven years, Rayna has had numerous roles across all levels of the party, from local branches through to the national executive. She was a candidate in the Hamilton City Council elections in 2001 and worked for the Green Parliamentary team from 2002 until 2005 as Electorate Assistant for Mike Ward and Nandor Tanczos.

Community Involvements

Rayna has been involved in many community groups and campaigns including disability networks, a women’s collective and organising anti-GE rallies in Hamilton. Between 2000 and 2008 others have been the Melbourne Craft Cartel, MadGE Australia, Black GST, ANTaR, Earthsharing Australia, NORML, Open Source Society, Indymedia, Anti Bypass Action, and ARC.
