Launch of the Green Party's Copyright (Parody and Satire) Amendment Bill
Green Party ICT spokesperson Gareth Hughes will be launching his Copyright (Parody and Satire) Amendment Bill and answering questions about the Green's stance on the Government's Copyright (Infringing File Sharing) Act tomorrow on the online community Reddit. The Bill seeks to change New Zealand's copyright law so that copyrighted work can be used for the purpose of parody or satire.
This is the first time that a New Zealand political party has launched a policy exclusively online.
The post will go live at 1PM - Gareth will be online and answering questions from 6-7PM via www.reddit.com/r/newzealand (the specific URL for the launch will be updated here tomorrow at 1PM).
Reddit's New Zealand page— www.reddit.com/r/newzealand — is an active online community that discusses topics from politics to funny pictures. The community of "Redditors" has been very vocal about the recent passage of the Copyright (Infringing File Sharing) Act or Skynet Law.
Redditors will have opportunity to ask questions about the Bill and other copyright related policy from 1PM tomorrow, with Gareth answering questions between 6-7PM.
