You are warmly welcomed to join Green MP Kevin Hauge for a film screening and a discussion around the campagin to save the Mokihinui River from hydro dam development.

The Mokihinui River on the South Island's West Coast has been identified as one of New Zealand's most valuable wild rivers. It drains from Kahurangi National Park and runs through a magnificent gorge providing a beautiful space for outdoor recreation. The river is home to twelve species of native fish including the chronically endangered longfinned eel. The river is currently under threat from an 85m hydro-electricity dam proposed by Meridian Energy.

Kevin will screen 'A Tale of Two Rivers' and excerpts from Craig Potton's 'Rivers' TV series, followed by a discussion on the Mokihinui, the proposed dam, the renewable alternatives, and what you can do to stop it.
