This is the inaugural Smart Transport for New Zealand Conference, co-hosted by Gareth Hughes, Green Party Transport Spokesperson, and Shane Jones, Labour Party Transport Spokesperson.
The aim of the conference is to promote smart transport choices for New Zealand and ensure that all New Zealanders have access to good public transport, walking and cycling options.
It will bring together transport experts, advocates and others working in the field to discuss how we can best promote smart transport choices.
Agenda
A draft agenda is available below. The conference will include speeches by international experts Dr. Paul Mees, author of Transport for Suburbia: Beyond the Automobile Age and Stephen Joseph, CEO of Campaign for Better Transport UK (via video link).
There will also be panel discussions by experts on topics such as Economics & Transport, and Local Government & Transport.
Registrations
You can register online by Wednesday 17 August. Please note that there is no cost for the conference but registration is essential for security and catering purposes.
The first day of the conference is aimed at all those interested in learning more about transport issues or promoting smart transport. The second day is more tightly focused for those actively engaged in smart transport advocacy.
