The Government continues to waste billions on new motorways, but there are transport alternatives that deliver healthier and more vibrant communities and cheaper, easier and greener ways of getting around. New Zealanders want and need smart green transport investment.
I am co-hosting a conference today and tomorrow at Parliament entitled Smart Transport for New Zealand, which will be well-attended by transport experts, economists, local politicians and sustainable transport advocates.
We want to tell the Government that smarter transport will be better for our economy, create more jobs and be better for our health and the planet.

Keep it Kiwi
Selling off the businesses that New Zealanders own together would mean more foreign ownership and less accountability to what's best for New Zealanders. It'd also mean more profits shifting offshore. No place for TABOR in New Zealand - by Russel Norman
The Government has introduced a TABOR Bill to Parliament. TABOR is an acronym for “Taxpayers’ Bill of Rights”. But rather than have anything to do with a real Bill of Rights, TABOR is actually a wacky libertarian measure designed to shrink the state and inhibit its ability to protect the vulnerable or respond adequately to economic circumstances. And end to Seed Exchanges? - by Sue Kedgley
I have had many queries about the Food Bill, with some suggesting it is a ghastly plot to make seed saving and seed exchange programmes illegal, and even activities such as the Willing Workers on Organic Farm systems (WWOOFing).
These concerns, unfortunately, were never raised during the submission stage of the bill, when they can be examined in depth. Read more...
