Finally an inquiry into how milk prices are set is getting underway.
We've been pushing for a proper inquiry into milk prices for months now. There's something radically wrong when as a country we are overflowing with milk and yet more and more children cannot afford to drink our milk.
The nub of the problem is that Fonterra, a monopoly supplier of milk, is setting the price of milk — in secret. In any other part of the economy this would be called a rort.
