Over the past year treasury staff have received over 200 gifts from big banks, such a culture of treating is outside of state sector rules and raises questions of a potential conflict of interest.
The average New Zealander will look at this level of gift giving and expect some answers.
We're calling for an audit of Treasury's behaviour because it is the best way to clear this up.
