Sue Bradford Stands For Greens
Sue Bradford has been selected as the Green Party candidate for Rodney.
A well-attended meeting in Warkworth last night voted unanimously to select Ms Bradford, who says she will be campaigning on strengthening local economies and communities.
"Local communities have suffered in recent years. People are suffering. I'm standing for the Green party because they have a strong belief in the importance of rebuilding communities and strengthening local economies," Ms Bradford said.
"They also happen to have some very smart ideas about how to go about that.
Ms Bradford stood for the Green Party in last year's Auckland mayoral election, where she won 3.2% of the vote. She hopes to beat that by drawing at least 5% of the party vote in her electorate, and by helping to boost the party vote nation-wide.
"We'll be pushing this message over and over this year - vote Green with your party vote. That's the one that counts," Ms Bradford said.
Green Party Co-Leader Rod Donald said it was "exciting to have Sue on board."
"It is wonderful to have someone of Sue's calibre and profile out there and campaigning. Sue is a dedicated and passionate campaigner for a society where everyone gets a fair go," Mr Donald said.
Ms. Bradford lives on a farm near Wellsford.
