I have good problem-solving and communication skills. I care about people and about the environment. I would like to contribute my expertise and experience towards making the world a better place, so that we can live in harmony and good health, sharing the available resources in a sustainable way.
Jeanette has been actively involved in community and education work for over 30 years. She is a mother of two and lives in Auckland.
Jeanette currently works as the Information Services Manager at Community Alcohol & Drug Service for WDHB. She has an extensive background in the IT sector having worked as a software designer and developer for over 25 years, working in a number of different sectors.
Jeanette has a strong background in education both as a student and a teacher. She has a BSc in Maths with Physics, Diplomas in Secondary Teaching and Rural Studies and is currently doing a PhD on Media Influence and Energy Sector Public Policy in New Zealand.
Jeanette is involved with many community groups including Greenpeace, the Sustainable Business Network, the Long Bay Okura Great Park Society, the Devonport Folk Club and the Aotearoa Wave and Tidal Energy Association.
Jeanette has an extensive history with the Green Party and has been a candidate on four previous occasions for Parliament and her local DHB (once as an Independent). She has been Issue Convenor for Education Policy and a member of many local and national committees and executives.
Jeanette has previously been actively involved with Mt Eden Plunket, Maungawhau Primary School PTA and East Coast Bays Toastmasters.
Jeanette is a former NZ representative Water Polo player and is an active cyclist, swimmer, skier and tennis player. She also has an interest in recycling, composting and waste minimisation.
