Mua has stood before for the Green Party and is happy to draw on his Samoan and Chinese heritage to reach out to voters in Mangere. Mua has a strong message of how relevant caring for the environment is for Pacific Island communities and whanau.
Background
Mua has a Diploma in Ministry from Otago's Knox Theological College in addition to qualification in Social Work and Education from Massey University. Currently he is a Chaplin and a Tutor with Tagata Pasifika Alternative Education. Mua is an Ordained Presbyterian P.I.C. Minister serving Pacific nations communities Mua has strong connections with the Pasifika music scene. “I am the only Pacific Island Candidate. I have strong family connections in South Auckland who I can call on to assist the campaign”. My son and I have strong links to 'rap/hip hop' music scene in Auckland.
Community involvement
Mua pioneered the Pasifika Art and Therapy for Healing and took this Samoa, Tonga, Fiji and Australia. He worked with indigenous and community workers and youth workers. Mua works with Presbyterian faith communities, social services, Pacific media, arts, sports, gay lesbian and Fa'a fafaine communities. Chairperson of Pacific Music Awards and Grey Lynn Neighbourhood Law Office.
Achievements
Mua is a published poet; exhibited artist, storyteller; comedian and producer of Pasifika Poets Collective.
