“We are here today to pay our respects for the miners who didn't make it out on that dark day and to give our heartfelt sympathies to their families,”

Green Party Co-leader Russel Norman and West Coast based Green Party MP Kevin Hague will be attending today's Pike River commemorations.

"We are here today to pay our respects for the miners who didn't make it out on that dark day and to give our heartfelt sympathies to their families," said Green Party Co-leader Russel Norman.

Mr Hague said, "What happened here a year ago was a tragedy that will not be forgotten. The Green Party's thoughts and prayers are with the miners' families at this hard time."
