Green Party MP Metiria Turei invites everyone to stand up and fight against the National Party plan to open up specially designated conservation areas for mining. Mining on the DoC estate is already allowed in many circumstances with the permission of the Minister of Conservation. National intends to open up those areas where mining is currently forbidden.
