There are at least 1 million substandard homes in New Zealand and rental properties are generally the worst performing of these.
Less than 10% of houses being retrofitted under the Warm Up New Zealand grant scheme are rentals.
Our poor rentals are making people sick, wasting energy, and increasing our CO2 emissions.
The Greens are calling on the government to adopt our Members Bill which would create performance standards which ensure warm, healthy, rentals as a Government Bill.
This would make positive change a reality to the hundreds of thousands of renters in cold, inefficient homes.
