Over the past decade I’ve served as the local Councillor and Board member for Manukau, on Auckland Council. Last year I stood for the Auckland mayoralty endorsed by the Green Party.

Born and raised in south Auckland, of Samoan heritage, I’ve grown up in a state house in Otara to migrant parents who worked in blue collar jobs. Having represented the poorest Ward in Auckland I am deeply committed to ensuring diverse communities have a say in decisions that affect them and increase their participation in democratic practices. These experiences have shaped my values around climate justice, social and economic fairness, inclusion, spirituality and hope.

I’ve worked with young people and community organisations all my life and see myself as an activist for equity. I’m married to an amazing woman and we have two beautiful daughters. My hope is for a sustainable, fair and just future my for my children, their friends and future generations.
