Chickens remain in cages because of loopholes that allow producers to breach the basic requirements for care of animals that are set out in the Animal Welfare Act 1999. We want to see the end of cages for chickens in New Zealand.

We have been pushing the Minister of Primary Industries to end the use of cruel cages in New Zealand. New Zealanders care about the welfare of chickens and more and more people are choosing to buy free range eggs. How different is each system?
