Increasing DoC's funding
We’re leading the largest single increase in DoC funding in 16 years. Our plan backs nature. We are setting our native wildlife up to thrive. In Budget 2018 we secured $181.6m injection of operational funding for conservation initiatives over the next four years.
Supporting predator-free 2050
New Zealand has a biodiversity crisis with over 80% of our birds threatened or at risk of extinction. New Zealanders all over the country are getting behind trapping pests like rats, possums and stoats. Community-based projects help give our special native wildlife a chance to thrive.
Banning plastic bags
We’re phasing out single-use plastic bags to protect our streams, oceans, and wildlife from plastic pollution.
Ending offshore oil and gas
This Government’s decision to end new fossil fuel exploration in New Zealand’s oceans is a massive step towards a stable climate and to protecting our marine life and beaches. Ending deep sea oil and gas exploration has long been a key goal of the Green Party and we’ve delivered it in Government.
