I have spent most of my working life as journalist. Climate, the environment and social equity continue to be the focus of what I write.

For 35 years I have lived overlooking the Okura estuary on Auckland's North Shore where I work with others to protect the Long Bay Okura Marine Reserve.

I am convenor of Our Climate Declaration, a national NGO whose kaupapa aims to create a just and sustainable post-carbon Aotearoa New Zealand.

I believe Climate is not just about global heating; it is also about biodiversity loss and the degraded environment we are leaving our children. Green Party policies are concerned with the deep systemic changes we need to provide a liveable future for our children.

Language is the basis of culture and I am currently enrolled in a Te Reo Maori course at AUT North Shore as my acknowledgement of the importance of mãtauranga Maori.
