Marine protection proposed for south eastern South Island
Action is underway to enhance the protection of our precious marine biodiversity in the face of the global biodiversity crisis. Mega mast confirmed for New Zealand forests
Monitoring by the Department of Conservation has confirmed the predicted mega mast or heavy seeding in New Zealand’s forests this autumn, Conservation Minister Eugenie Sage said today. Native frogs and kiwi protected by Nature Heritage Fund purchase
A block of native forest which is home to threatened native frogs /pepeketua and Coromandel brown kiwi will be preserved after being purchased by the Nature Heritage Fund. New funding to deal with agrichemical and farm waste
Associate Environment Minister Eugenie Sage today announced $381,000 in Government funding to enable farmers and growers to better deal with waste. The funding, from the Ministry for the Environment’s Waste Minimisation Fund, will mean farmers and growers can more easily recycle or safely dispose of a wider range of on-farm waste such as agrichemicals, scrap metal, soft plastics and used oil. New Government funding will bring together landholders, iwi and hapū, and others in the wider community to improve stream health in the Waikawa catchment, in the Manawatu-Wanganui region. Mokihinui River catchment land to be added to Kahurangi National Park
