We are pleased to be holding more Te Tiriti o Waitangi training this year! This year we will have a beginner’s training (Te Tiriti 101), and a secondary, more specialised training (Te Tiriti 102) for people who already have some Te Tiriti training and knowledge under their belt.

Te Tiriti 101 will be held on Sunday 5 May, 1-5pm, and an alternate session Saturday 11 May, 9am-1pm. These are repeat sessions, and you only need to attend one of them (not both). The training will cover:

  • Historical context
  • The Declaration of Independence
  • Comparing the texts
  • The primacy of te reo Maori text
  • The Principles and Referendum

Te Tiriti 102 will be held on Saturday 18 May 1-5pm and will cover:

  • Processes and effects of colonisation
  • The claims settlement process/kaupapa enquiries
  • Current context and issues
  • Implementing te Tiriti
  • Green response to Matike Mai

You can RSVP for Sunday 05 May (Te Tiriti 101 alternate session) here, and Saturday 18 May (Te Tiriti 102) here
