Every child in Aotearoa deserves to grow up with safety and stability, wrapped in aroha.
Unfortunately, too many of our children in state care are being failed by our Government. Funding is being slashed. Staff are under immense pressure. Children are falling through the cracks. It’s time that changed. In consultation with care providers, the Green Party has created seven promises, to ensure all tamariki in the system are supported to thrive.
You can read the promises below, and sign our open letter to the Minister for Children, calling on her to take some personal responsibility for the safety of our most vulnerable tamariki. The oranga of our tamariki and rangatahi must be at the heart of decision-making. It really is as simple as that.
Together, we can build a system that values care, compassion, and the well-being of every child. Let’s stand united for a future where no tamaiti is left behind, and where aroha guides the way forward for all our communities.
