Our movement was built by everyday people. We are proudly a party for the people, by the people. You do not need to be a political scientist to get involved, what matters is that you are passionate about creating an Aotearoa where people and planet can thrive.
Become a member
Be a part of shaping Aotearoa for the better
Membership looks different for everyone. Some members are highly active in their communities, others stay connected and participate when they can. You can get as involved as much or as little as you want.
As a member of the Green Party you can:
- Be involved in developing Green Party policy
- Be part of our election candidate selection and list ranking
- Vote on key issues, party leadership and other positions
- Meet fellow members in your area
- Join our many lived experience or interest-based networks
- Hear directly from your local branch and province, and any party network you join
- Join the online community, getting access to the members-only website, join party discussions, and access historic Green Party records and resources

Volunteering is a powerful way to support the movement. Without volunteers, we wouldn’t be here today. Volunteer opportunities can include:
- Doorknocking and phone calling
- Data entry and admin
- Helping at events
- Photography, design and social media support
- Cooking and hospitality
- Campaign support
- Fundraising
- Local volunteering and helping your community

Join a group or network
Find your community
Not only do we have localised branches (organising groups) we also have groups and networks based on shared values, interests and lived experiences. Joining a group is a great way for you to meet more like-minded people that care about the same issues as yourself. You have to be a member of the Green Party to join a network, but you can find out more about our groups and networks below.
