Kia ora!

My name's Gina Dao-McLay (they/them) and I'm stoked to be a candidate for the Greens this election.
I'm a queer, non-binary young person of Pākehā and Vietnamese whakapapa living in Porirua with much of my spare time spent volunteering and organising for a progressive future, with various groups and campaigns!

I first got involved with politics at 16 through the Make it 16 campaign to lower the voting age - I kept up to date with politics and knew with the massive issues happening both in Aotearoa and around the globe, young people should be able to have a say in the decision-makers of those issues. Youth representation and advocacy in politics are super important.

The Greens have always been the party for me, as a member of the rainbow community, a student and a person of colour. Our commitment to making the lives of the marginalised better, honouring Te Tiriti o Waitangi and years of leading the way on climate action in parliament makes me proud to represent us! I'm excited about the opportunities this election will bring to connect more people with the Green kaupapa.

Ngā mihi nui!
