Greens appoint new Communications and Policy Director

The Green Party is pleased to announce it has appointed David Cormack to the new position of Communications and Policy Director.

The role leads the political and media team at the Green Party parliamentary office.

David will take up the role on Monday 14 September, reporting to the Chief of Staff.

David has a strong track record of integrating policy objectives with communications strategy, including as Communications Lead at InternetNZ.

While at InternetNZ, David led the “Axe the Copper Tax” campaign, which forced John Key’s Government to back down on plans to introduce legislation that would have stripped the Commerce Commission of its independence.

More recently, he has been an Account Director at Sputnik, with an emphasis on marketing communications.

David has been the editor of the Ruminator blog, which he will be giving up editorial control of to focus on his new role with the Greens. He will continue to occasionally publish on arts, culture and sport on the Ruminator site.
