A sustainable, long-term vision for the people of Palmerston North.

Kaydee Zabelin has served on Council since 2022, bringing a diverse background as an analyst, former legal secretary, and business advisor. Her expertise spans Mātauranga Māori, resource management law, the justice system, and community arts. Motivated by the need to build community resilience against climate change and geopolitical disruptions, she focuses on urban planning, sponge city infrastructure and food security.

An avid hiker, birdwatcher, and historian, Kaydee is also the kaitiaki of a 12-acre protected native forest, home to native birds, frogs, freshwater koura, and glowworms. She and her family live off-grid, building an extensive permaculture food forest and recently completed a project to rewild 8 acres of retired pasture.

As an approachable and positive representative, Kaydee is committed to working collaboratively with the Council and the community. She aims to balance the need for improved services now with a sustainable, long-term vision for a resilient future for the people of Palmerston North.
