We prioritise the use of Tagata Moana (people of the sea) to reflect our historical and whakapapa connections to Tangata Whenua (people of the land). This rich tapestry of interactions and relationships forms the foundation for solidarity with Indigenous Peoples across the Pacific.

Non-Violence:

We recognise that Tagata Moana have always resisted Western imperialism and colonisation, and have their own cultural practices for conflict resolution and peace-making.

Appropriate Decision-making:

We express solidarity with Indigenous movements and small independent island nations. We recognise the tradition of movements such as the Nuclear Free and Independent Pacific (NFIP) and independence struggles such as those in West Papua and French-occupied Polynesia.
