We have a responsibility to leave things better for future generations.

Pōneke Councillor, Yadana Saw, is committed to continuing the work the Greater Wellington Regional Council has progressed in public transport, healthy freshwater, biodiversity, and making our region a more connected, liveable place for everyone.

Yadana believes that in council, we have a responsibility to make decisions that leave things better for future generations. That means we need to clean up, build better and invest in quality public transport infrastructure. These are not always popular, easy choices - but she is proud to be part of a council that is respectful, collegial and committed to making this the best place to call home now and into the future.

Her priorities are:

  • Driver pay and conditions, and investing in our essential workers.
  • Reliable, punctual and frequent public transport - maintain our bus network and get our trains back on track.
  • Freshwater - looking after te taiao
  • Greening up vulnerable areas of our region to protect us from extreme weather events.
  • Restoring underground rivers and streams to help prevent flood damage.
  • Working alongside mana whenua to achieve long-lasting positive outcomes for everyone.
  • Growing public ownership of public transport assets.
