Join NZEI Te Riu Roa and local Members of Parliament Lawrence Xu-Nan and Camilla Belich for a public meeting on Early Childhood Education.
David Seymour, the Associate Minister of Education with responsibility for ECE, and the Minister for Regulation, has introduced a Regulatory Review of Early Childhood Education, to be followed by a funding review. This could impact negatively on pay parity, funding rates, qualifications for ECE teachers, and ultimately lead to the further privatisation of ECE, thus making profit the sole driver of the sector, instead of high quality culturally appropriate education for our tamariki.
We believe that Early Childhood Education is a public good, and the rights and needs of tamariki, mokopuna, and whānau should be at the centre of all our work.
Join us in a hui to share your views on the future of early childhood education, hear from those in the sector who will be affected, share kai and learn what actions you can take to protect Early Childhood Education.
