Opportunities for meaningful work are thin on the ground in the current economic climate, but it doesn't have to be this way. We can create the jobs that we need and take care of Papatūānuku at the same time.
This term, Luxon’s Government has waged a war on our natural environment. From the Fast-track legislation to disestablishing the Ministry of Environment, it's clear that this government does not respect te taiao.
The cost of this Government's choices goes far beyond immediate harm to nature and economic instability. These harmful policy choices will have long lasting negative impacts on generations to come.

The people of Aotearoa deserve to enjoy a thriving natural environment alongside our meaningful and well paid mahi. Our Jobs for Nature program hit the mark for both, providing locally managed, taiao-focused jobs. This government cut the program as a part of their war on nature. But we want to bring it back through Te Waonui a Tāne.
Te Waonui a Tāne will:

Implement Te Rākau Whakauora Restoration fund, this would allocate $100 million a year over four years to iwi, hapū and community organisations for immediate use.

Support iwi, hapū and community groups, by resourcing them to establish and restart their Jobs for Nature programs.

Lock in the funding long term, by allocating $2 billion for long-term investment to Te Tōtara Haemata Intergenerational Fund.
