Marama Davidson returning to New Zealand

Green Party MP Marama Davidson is safe and well and is expected to be deported from Israel imminently, after being detained in Tel Aviv, the Green Party said today.

Green Party MP Marama Davidson is safe and well and is expected to be deported from Israel imminently, after being detained in Tel Aviv, the Green Party said today.

Her family have been notified of her situation. She is likely to arrive at Auckland airport at about 8am on Saturday 8th October.

“We are relieved to hear that Marama is well and that she received no ill treatment during her arrest and detention in Israel,” said Green Party Co-leader Metiria Turei.

“Her trip was focused on drawing attention to the dire humanitarian situation in Gaza, where Palestinians are struggling to survive.

“We are calling on Israel to lift this inhumane blockade and help the people of Gaza to rebuild their homes and lives.

“Marama has spent much of her life standing up for human rights here and around the world. We’re very proud of everything she’s achieved on this trip, and are glad to have her coming home,” said Mrs Turei.
