At its AGM last weekend, the Green Climate Protection Package was rolled out.

-    It contains the over-riding goal of net carbon-neutral economy by 2050, with a National Carbon Budget comprising a series of five-yearly budget components to get to that goal.

-    There will be an independent Climate Commission to advise the Government on both budget and policy.

-    The policy will be two inter-related policy mechanisms: an economic instrument and a suite of complementary measures.

The National Government has been propped up for the past three years by a criminal MP who got his seat through a dodgy deal with John Key, and it is time for that arrangement to end, the Green Party said today.

In the High Court at Auckland Act MP John Banks was today found guilty of filing a false electorate return.

"John Key's coalition is reliant on a criminal," Green Party musterer Gareth Hughes said.

The Green Party will decriminalise abortion and assert the right of women to make decisions regarding their own health and the wellbeing of their family or whanau.

Abortion is currently a crime under the Crimes Act. It is only legal if two consultants agree that the pregnancy would seriously harm the woman's mental or physical health or that the fetus would have a serious disability.

"The Green Party trusts women to make decisions that are best for them and their whānau/family," Green Party women's spokesperson Jan Logie said.

Out of all the people that come to our shores, refugees and asylum seekers are the most vulnerable.  They often carry many scars- some visible, some less visible.  They often have seen and experienced horrific conditions.  So when they arrive, having willingly accepted them, New Zealand has an obligation to provide services and the care to deal with their unique predicament.
