He uri tēnei nō Aoraki te maunga
Nō ngā wai huka e rere ana
Nō ngā waitapu
Nō Ngāi Tahu hoki

Ko Mike Davidson tēnei e tū ana hei poutoko iwi mō te Pāti Kākāriki, mō te hāpori whānui ō te poari ō Waipapa Papanui hoki.

Mike Davidson comes to Parliament with extensive political experience in Local Government, having served previously as a City Councillor in Ōtautahi Christchurch and currently as the Innes Ward representative on the Waipapa Papanui-Innes-Central community board – a role being performed in tandem with serving as a Member of Parliament for Te Pāti Kākāriki and one in which he will donate his board salary to the Mayoral welfare fund.

During his nine-year tenure in Local Government, Mike made good use of his Environmental Science degree; chairing both the Council’s Urban Development and Transport Committee as well as the Coastal Hazards Working Group. His time as a City Councillor in Ōtautahi has made him acutely aware of the important role Local Government plays in providing for community as well as the vital work that Local and Central Government must perform together effectively.

He is committed, as ever, to serving his local community and upholding Te Tiriti o Waitangi as tangata whenua on his Ngāi Tahu whakapapa and reo Māori journey. Currently holding the Greens’ Internal Affairs and ACC portfolios, Mike has committed to proudly represent Ōtautahi and our Green movement in Parliament, for the interests of all people and the planet.
