Today, the Government's friends in the Taxpayer's Union have brought a new low to the election campaign with an attack ad that impersonates the Green Party's election advertisements.
"The right-wing has run this election on attacking the Opposition, but today, they've hit an entirely new low by impersonating us. We are calling on Prime Minister Christopher Luxon to draw a line in the sand and stop this despicable downgrading of democracy," says Green Party Co-leader Chlöe Swarbrick.
"Every single day, we hear New Zealanders want ambition, a vision and a plan to rebuild our infrastructure, lower the cost of living and protect our nature. That's what the Greens have relentlessly focussed on."
"The Greens want a contest of ideas. The National Party has run scared at every turn, hiding behind attack ads and AI slop."
"Stop the dirty politics. We're asking the National Party to front up for a clean fight."
"Within half an hour of my formal invitation to the National Finance Spokesperson to size our Fiscal Plans up side by side, the Nats had issued another personalised attack ad."
"If they want to talk about us so much, they can do so in public. They can also then finally compare their plan, or lack thereof."
"The Greens are the only party with a real economic development plan, and the independently costed plan to invest in fixing our healthcare system, and we're proud to have run a positive campaign on that vision."
"And let's not forget, today is the last day New Zealanders can enrol to vote, before this Government's changes strip them of their ability to exercise their right to vote," says Swarbrick.
