New Zealanders are in charge now

As voting officially opens, the Green Party is encouraging New Zealanders to use their power and vote for the country and economy they want.

“Today and for the next two weeks, New Zealanders are directly in charge of the future of this beautiful country. Change for the better won’t just happen by itself - we have to vote for it,” says Green Party co-leader Chlöe Swarbrick.

“Wherever we go, New Zealanders are clear about what matters. A good job, affordable groceries and transport, a properly funded health system, and a government that works for ordinary people, not just corporate profit.”

“New Zealanders have so much in common. They simply don’t care about politicians bickering with each other. They’re sick of clickbait politics. They want solutions.”

“That’s the plan the Greens have delivered this election: an economy that works for all of us.”

“The Greens have shown how we can deliver 64,000 new jobs, free public transport fares for low income and young people, cheaper groceries and power bills. We will fix the health system with serious investment. We will protect and restore nature.”

“We will fix the tax system so the wealthiest pay their fair share, cutting income taxes for 96% of New Zealanders and unlocking the resources to rebuild our infrastructure and reduce our exposure to imported fossil fuel inflation,” says Swarbrick.

“Get your friends and family together, vote your values, and let’s build the country and economy that works for all of us.”
