Kia ora mai, e te whānau o Te Whanganui-a-Tara! My name is Nīkau Wi Neera. I'm a city councillor, composer and taonga puoro practitioner, and for the past twenty-three years I've been proud to call Wellington my home. I hail from local mana whenua, Ngāti Toarangatira, and I also whakapapa to Kāi Tahu, Ngāti Pāhauwera, and Ngāpuhi. I'm passionate about honouring Te Tiriti, protecting our Taiao, and building a thriving, equitable, and accessible capital city for all.
My priorities this term include returning land, water, and assets to our mana whenua, improving and increasing our social housing, creating a world-class public transport network, and building resilience for climate change.
