Steve Abel (he/him) Waitākere
I am Tangata Tiriti of Scottish, English and French ancestry. Born and raised in Tāmaki Makaurau, I now live in Waitākere. I’m a father, and stepfather. I inherited my parents’ passion for social action which led me to being part of campaigns to end native logging and protect our ancient rainforests; stop Marsden B coal-fired powerstation; achieve a ban on offshore oil and gas exploration; and expose nitrate contamination of drinking water. After decades affecting change from “outside the tent”, I sought to bring those skills to Parliament and am honoured to represent our Green values as an MP.
