Kia ora, ko Don tōku ingoa. I am a young medical graduate and writer who wants to fight for an Aotearoa where it is easy & affordable to be happy & healthy. I got my Bachelor of Medicine & Surgery from University of Auckland in 2023. I have since been working in the film industry, including as a writer on shows like Shortland Street. I am now returning to the hospital to complete my junior doctor/house officer years. I want to fight for an Aotearoa where working people are given a fairer shake and we genuinely invest in our health system, in a way that puts communities over multinational conglomerates. I want to work for policies which keep us well, before we end up in hospital - helping save taxpayer money through a prevention-focused approach - which can be reinvested into our local neighbourhoods. I want to fight for better protections against harmful products like cigarettes, vapes, and alcohol; make healthy food options more accessible to kids (including through breaking up the supermarket duopoly and fixing our schools in lunches programme); and give working New Zealanders the tax relief they deserve, to combat our affordability crisis. I am also an avid supporter of faster climate change mitigation and strengthening protection of all our natural environments, allowing us to pass the beauty of our country on to the next generation.
