Dr Lisa Te Morenga

Te Tai Tonga

A public health leader with a strong focus on evidence-based policy, social equity, treaty justice and sustainable systems for all.

Ko Dr Lisa Te Morenga ahau. Ko Ngāpuhi, ko Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei, ko Te Uri o Hau, ko Te Rarawa ōku iwi. Kei Te Whanganui-a-tara au e noho ana.

I’m a Professor of Māori Health and Nutrition with more than 20 years’ experience in public health research, teaching, and advocacy. I’ve lived in Te Tai Tonga for more than 30 years across Te Whanganui-a-tara, Otautahi and Otepoti.

I’m deeply committed to advancing whānau and environmental wellbeing, equitable health and social outcomes, and transforming systems through kaupapa Māori, community‑led solutions.

I’ve been at the forefront of public health advocacy for fair, just and effective policy as the co-chair of Health Coalition Aotearoa. I want to bring my skills and experience to Parliament to advocate for policies that protect the amazing environments of Te Waipounamu and Te Whanganui-a-tara. Our mokopuna and their whānau deserve to have warm, dry homes, sustainable jobs and enough to eat.

This current Government won’t listen to the to the evidence or the people. The Green Party has the plan to put power where it belongs, with people and communities.
