Louise Hutt (she/they) Hamilton West
I’m a former Green city councillor for Kirikiriroa-Hamilton - Regulatory & Hearings Committee chairperson, and led the climate, transport, disability, and arts funding portfolios.
I joined our Party the night Donald Trump was first elected - 10 years ago - horrified by the rising fascism that has only mobilised and festered since.
Growing up on the Coromandel shaped my understanding of climate change, our environment, and poverty, deeply influenced by my mum hearing Jeanette Fitzsimmons speak at the Waihi Memorial Hall.
I’m currently chairperson of Go Eco, the largest environmental charity in the Waikato, and a former senior advisor to the COVID-19 response programme.
